I found this picture buried on my camera's memory card yesterday. It was taken in our backyard one summer evening just as the sun was starting to get lower in the sky. Despite all the shenanigans Chloe is capable of, I still find her face absolutely breathtaking sometimes. I'm not sure she'll ever lose her 'puppy' ways, and even though there are days when I wish she would just settle down, I have to admit I'm not sure I want her to. (Now all we need is a rambunctious child to pair with our crazy four-legged and the two can chase each other around until the street lights come on. Or perhaps I better be careful what I wish for!)
Any of you have a four-legged, or other creature in your life that you just can't imagine living without? One that drives you nuts yet has weaseled their way into your heart? I was very fond of my first-ever goldfish when I was seven, and sobbed for hours the day he had to swirl his way down the toilet to fishy heaven.

I love this!! I feel the same way about Stanley. He's crazy, and will eat ANYTHING if you leave it out on the counter (toothpicks, tupperware with food residue, etc.), but when I tell him "bad dog" he looks so sad and ashamed and adorable that I can't be mad at him. He is definitely a family member in our house. :)

Meg - thankfully Chloe hasn't figured out that food on the counters is an option for her (although she gets into a lot of trouble in other ways!), but I know dogs who do that and I am constantly reminding myself not to leave things out when I'm around them! Chloe is for sure a family member... and has Andy wrapped around her little paw even more than me :)
DeleteBTW - love the blog you and Bob have! I was reading through it last night when I saw you post in on fb. You both are an inspiration!
Wow, what an incredible picture, she is stunning. I often find myself grumbling that I can't wait until Mulligan loses some of his puppy energy, but you are right he has weaseled his way into my heart.
ReplyDeleteAmy - oh my goodness, my mom and I were watching him play the other day when John brought him over. He is HILARIOUS! He 'bounds' when he runs - almost like Scooby Doo! We were getting such a kick out of him :) Champy used to be like that too, but after watching Mulligan it seems Champy has mellowed a little in his older age.
Deletewhat an awesome picture! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, you know there is more awesome where that came from... waiting for your arrival in march ;) i'm sure she's saving some of it for her aunty carey!
